This Is My Why: The Promise of Showing Up Anyway

There’s a moment… quiet, usually… when the noise settles just enough for the truth to make itself heard. Sometimes it whispers. Sometimes it punches you in the gut. Either way, it asks the same question:

“Why am I here?”

This blog Promising Existence is my response to that question.

I’ve lived enough life to know that pain carves us. Love builds us. And somewhere in between, we learn to keep showing up. I’ve walked through seasons that nearly took me under from my children having heart surgery to divorce, grief, the exhaustion of doing too much for too many with too little left for myself. I’ve also stood in rooms where I felt like I was made for more… but wasn’t quite sure how to claim it.

I’m a mom, a leader, a woman learning how to take up space again. I’m mid-crisis, mid-growth, mid-miracle. And I finally gave myself permission to speak.

So here I am, not because I have all the answers, but because I have questions worth asking out loud.

This space is for anyone who’s ever said:

  • “I feel stuck in a life I chose.”
  • “I love my people, but I’m so damn tired.”
  • “I thought I’d be somewhere else by now.”
  • “I want to believe I’m made for more.”

If you’ve been cracked open by grief, lit up by purpose, or caught somewhere in between then this is for you.

But Promising Existence isn’t just a soul-digging, tear-streaked, healing journey (though there will be plenty of that). It’s also storytelling. The kind that makes you laugh mid-coffee sip and go, “SAME.” It’s about raising teens without losing your mind. About dating when you’d honestly rather just eat tacos alone in peace. About the moments that remind you you’re still alive, even when life is on fire.

It’s a mix of lessons learned the hard way, the sacred chaos of single motherhood, the beauty of everyday resilience, and the occasional “What the hell was I thinking?” honesty we all need more of.

The name Promising Existence means something to me. It’s a commitment not just to survive, but to make this one wild, beautiful, messy life mean something. To grow in the middle of uncertainty. To heal while leading. To tell the truth and still choose hope.

Whether you’re reading or listening (because the podcast is coming too), I want you to know:
You’re not alone here. And your existence? It’s promising.

More than that, it’s powerful.

So come sit with me. Let’s tell the stories, laugh at the chaos, cry when we need to, and keep showing up for this one life we’ve been given.

We don’t have to do it perfectly. We just have to do it together.
